Cholera outbursts in Baluchistan overlooked during political disturbance
Pir Koh: Cholera outbreak in Baluchistan was overlooked and had not made to headlines due to the political unstable situation in Pakistan. Pir Koh, the region of Baluchistan is the epicenter where Cholera outbursts in April and till now more than 5000 cases have been reported including 7 deaths so far. The officials of World Health Organization and Baluchistan visited Pir Koh upon the complaints made by few students. The officials later found that there is also a water crisis in the region and people do not have sufficient water even to perform the funeral obligations. People complained that the administration was also unaware of the emergency like situation in the region and devised no plan and measures. The people of Pir Koh said that we are forced to live this miserable life where pure water has become a rare mineral and we are served with dirt water.
Cholera is a disease which spreads through dirty water and poor sanitation conditions. The disease is fatal to children which causes dehydration, diarrhea and vomiting. The federal minister of climate change, Sherry Rehman earlier said that Pakistan water resources are depleted due to the observable climate change.
