The violence in India-Occupied Kashmir surged after the Indian court sentenced Yaseen Malik, the President of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Party, for life time in response to the involvement in terrorism funding. A New Delhi report said that Six fighters were killed by Indian forces after Yaseen Malik’s decision, life in prison was reported. A verdict was condemned by All Parties Hurriyat Conference. In 1994, Yaseen Malik followed a peaceful democratic movement against the power in the disputed region of Kashmir. However, the court stated that Yaseen Malik was charged for raising fund from the world for terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir. He was also alleged of empowering militant arm. In 2014, Malik was interviewed where he said that before the regime of Narendra Modi, the prime minster of India, all the Indian Prime Ministers met, sat and talked with me, if they did not like me and considered me a terrorism supporter, they would not have met me.
Maryam Nawaz Shareef, PMLN vice president later condemned the court verdict of Yaseen Malik and labelled him as a true freedom fighter. She further said that Malik is the reason for self-awareness among the people of Kashmir about freedom. Mashal Malik, the wife of Yaseen Malik, has also asked Imran Khan, the chairman of PTI, for support in delaying the decision but much attention was not paid to this issue, his wife lamented.
