In order to avoid the effects of climate change on agricultural products, Pakistan and China are finding a way through cooperation to increase the production of Mango in view of international demand for Pakistani Mangoes. Wang Yan, General Manager of Yanglin Qingpita Garden Dragon stated that “With our advanced facility agriculture, I believe that if there is an opportunity for cooperation, we will be able to systematically improve the reduction of mango production in Pakistan due to extreme weather”, in an interview. He further said that we are working to build an integrated greenhouse with water and fertilizers with a life cycle of over 5 years and have more benefits economically in terms of production and cost. In order to maintain the stable growth of mango production, these greenhouses are required which minimizes the effect of climate change and natural disasters. Fertilizers will be added to provide nutrients to soil instead of spraying chemical-based fertilizers which may rotten and spoil crops more rapidly. Wang Yan said that Pakistani farmers are in desperate need of modern techniques of farming to gain monetary benefits.
This new method of farming is likely to increase production of mangoes by 12 tons to 22-25 tons per hectare. Thus, Pakistanis are likely to enjoy more mangoes with natural fertilizers next year.
