On 3rd June, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif requested all the privileged classes to make sacrifices and adopt austerity until the economic condition of Pakistan stabilizes. He said that local people as well as privileged classes all have to work together to move the country out of the crisis. After the announcement Syed Murad Ali Shah, Chief Minister of Sindh approved a 40% cut in the fuel quota for all government ministers, officials and for himself. The KP government also took the measure of reducing the 35% fuel cut to all government ministers, autonomous and semi-autonomous government bodies.
However, the departments that serve essential needs such as Rescue 1122, hospital, institutions, police and district administration are exempted from the order. The decision has been made to reduce the burden of the oil consumption bill to ensure the IMF program after Rs 30 increase in petroleum prices.
