Scientist Revealed the Story Behind Addiction Using Mapping of Brain Network

Published:

Scientists are progressing daily in every aspect of life from medical to social related concerns. But after COVID-19, the exclusive attention was withdrawn by medical sciences and has produced promising research which took the attention of many people. Recently, a neurologist from Finland University, Juho Jousta identified the brain network where the addiction can be traced, resided and treated accordingly. The researchers studied the behavior of 129 patients who were daily smokers and had brain lesions. Almost half of the patients continue on their smoking after getting the lesion while a quarter quit immediately without any resistance and don’t feel any craving for the smoking. However, lesions may cause damage to different parts of the brain also if lesion is given to someone. Researchers are working to observe the possible damage to the brain to make this treatment more efficient and reduce any such side effects.
