On Wednesday, the Punjab government presented provincial budget aimed to promote the social sector and allocated around over Rs 127 billion, Rs. 174.9 billion for health and population welfare, for education Rs 56.7 billion, for local government Rs 19.05 billion, water supply and sanitation Rs 11.95 billion, Sports and youth affairs Rs 7.5 billion, social welfare Rs 1.6 billion and Rs 900 million for women development programme.
To promote regional equalization Rs 240 billion allocated for Ring Fencing for South Punjab includes 31.5 billion for sustainable development programme, poverty alleviation project Rs 2.879 billion, Rs 0.4 billion allocated to control stunted growth among children and Rs 250 million for futsal courts.
The province’s next target is infrastructure development for which it allocated Rs 164.265 billion includes roads construction, irrigation, public building, urban development and energy generation.
Production sector also gained a hefty amount of Rs 41.405 billion including agriculture, livestock and food department, industries, commerce, investment and skills development, forestry, wildlife and fisheries, mine and minerals and tourism development.
Services sector concluded with an amount Rs 14.820 billion covering governance and information technology, transport, emergency services and labor and human resource development.
