A budget contained Rs 250 billion for development programs, from which 32 billion allocated for district development. The province allocated a huge amount for the social and agricultural sector under special programmes. The budget is named as pro-poor or tax-free budget. A relief package for the poor worth Rs 26.85 billion has been proposed. For food security Rs 23.324 billion subsidy has been given on wheat for the consumption of common people. A waived off has been given also on cotton fees, professional tax, entertainment duty, and infrastructure development related to export-oriented units. No new taxes for second consecutive years. The province raised the government employees’ salaries by 15%. Thus, the government specifically targets health, law and order, infrastructure development and rehabilitation of the irrigation system.
